Critical Words

I think that our children need critiqued sometimes, but more often than not, I think we could use a little advice from Thumper.

Are you in a habit of being negative and critical with your child? Maybe it's a critical comment about the outfit they chose, or a harsh comment about their school work, maybe an over-reaction on a mess they've made, or a negative label you use because you are frustrated by their behavior, or maybe it's just a habit of picking out the flaws and accentuating their weaknesses...or lots of nagging and threats...?We all do this on occasion, and there is certainly a time and place for discipline, and critiques, but let's be wise and consider our words.

This is a reminder to myself and anyone else that might be in need of it...kids are people too. Let's do our best to reflect on the communication we have with our kids, and make a little change if it's called for.
